Board Member Spotlight—Dr. Kambhampati

Venkatesh KamphampatiWhether he’s teaching at Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner School of Medicine or doing case simulations for Ohio ACEP’s Oral Board Review Course, it’s clear that Dr. Venkatesh Kambhampati’s greatest professional interest is in emergency medicine education.

Though born in India, Dr. Kambhampati lived in the West African nation of Niger for more than 11 years as a child before immigrating to the United States.

Dr. Kambhampati graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2000 with a degree in Public Health and then earned his Master’s in Microbiology and Immunology in 2002 at the JHU School of Public Health. He went on to attend medical school at The Ohio State University where he graduated in 2006. He completed his residency in 2009 at MetroHealth Medical Center/Cleveland Clinic combined program.

Dr. Kambhampati is currently working at the Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus where he was recently given the role of Clerkship Director for Emergency Medicine. He also teaches the physical diagnosis course at the Lerner School of Medicine.

Soon after taking his oral boards in 2010, Dr. Kambhampati became involved with Ohio ACEP. Since fall of 2010, he has been instructing for Ohio ACEP’s Oral Board Review Course and is now one of the Assistant Course Directors. He was a member the 2012 Leadership Development Academy and graduated alongside fellow Board Members, Drs. Matt Sanders, Purva Grover and Michael McCrea.

When he’s not teaching or working shifts at the hospital, Dr. Kambhampati enjoys playing sports, watching movies, playing video games, biking and travel. He is also a fan of college football and cricket. He loves spending time with his family and three little girls—all under the age of two!
