Leadership Development Academy Member Spotlight—Dr. Nicole Veitinger

Dr. Nicole VeitingerDr. Nicole Veitinger graduated valedictorian from Dover High School in 2000, and went on to earn her BA at Case Western Reserve University. During her time at Case, Dr. Veitinger ran track and participated in student government. After graduating, she earned an MA at Boston University before starting medical school at Ohio University.

While studying at Ohio University, she participated in student government and Sigma Sigma Phi (the osteopathic medicine honor society) and also met her now-husband. As a medical student, Dr. Veitinger participated in “DO Day on the Hill,” where she lobbied at the Capitol Building in Washington, DC—much like she and her fellow Leadership Development Academy members will do at the ACEP Leadership & Advocacy Conference in May!

Dr. Veitinger’s residency was in Cleveland with the MetroHealth/Cleveland Clinic program, where she was Chief Resident. Her first position as an emergency physician was with Mid-Ohio Emergency Services. Today, she continues to practice with Mid-Ohio at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Grant Medical Center and Dublin Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Veitinger’s husband, James, works at a hospitalist group at Grant Medical Center. The couple own a home in Upper Arlington, a suburb of Columbus. They love their house, but the purchase and move-in were badly-timed—they had to move in during the horrible storm in June, 2012!

Dr. Veitinger is a huge Top Chef fan and bookworm. She says she joined the Leadership Development Academy to learn more about ACEP and the opportunities for service in leadership within the Ohio Chapter. Earlier this year, Dr. Veitinger was elected as one of the chapter’s Councillors, who represent Ohio at ACEP Council. She is excited to fulfill her duties at Council and she looks forward to future ACEP activities.
