Ohio ACEP Members Honored at ACEP Council

On October 26, during the annual meeting of ACEP Council, two Ohio ACEP members were presented with awards recognizing their contributions to the Council.

Catherine Marco, MD, FACEPCatherine Marco, MD, FACEP, a past-president of Ohio ACEP, received ACEP Council’s highest honor, the Council Meritorious Service Award. In an article announcing this year’s honorees, ACEP’s official publication, ACEP Now, said in part:

“Dr. Marco has been an active leader and participant on several Council committees and strives to bring forward the perspective of Ohio and all members of ACEP. As chair of the national ACEP Ethics Committee, Dr. Marco shared her commitment and insight as she helped the College address vital ethical issues, including best practices for care at the end of life.”

Michael McCrea, MD, FACEPAt the meeting, Michael McCrea, MD, FACEP, President-Elect of Ohio ACEP, accepted the Council Horizon Award. This honor is designed to recognize a councillor who is in his or her first five years of service and who has demonstrated commitment to the Council and Council activities. In particular, Dr. McCrea was recognized for his service on reference committees and on Council committees, as well as serving Ohio ACEP as a Councillor.

ACEP Council meets each year in conjunction with the ACEP Scientific Assembly (this year, known as ACEP14). The Council is ACEP’s primary governing body, made up of Councillors representing each ACEP chapter, to consider resolutions that set College policies, allocate funds, and review ACEP Bylaws.

Ohio ACEP congratulates these two outstanding physicians and advocates of emergency medicine on their well-deserved awards!
