FFCRA Goes into Effect TODAY! Helpful Resources to Help You Navigate the Paid Federal Leave Law
As you know, beginning today, April 01, 2020, the provisions of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”) will go into effect. The FFCRA requires employers to provide eligible employees with paid sick leave if they qualify under the law. An employer will get fully reimbursed for those paid leave expenses through a dollar-for-dollar tax offset against payroll taxes and where additional funds are owed, the IRS will send a refund as quickly as possible. In order to assist dealers with in implementing this new law, here are some useful resources that Dealers need to have:
- FFCRA Notice Poster. You can find the Poster HERE. This poster should be displayed in conspicuous places on the dealership premises, emailed or mailed directly to the dealership employees, or posted on an employee information internal or external website. - Fisher Phillips FFCRA Leave Request Template. Because documenting the leave is going to be crucial for reimbursement purposes, it is strongly encouraged to have a form that your employee’s complete and submit with supporting information. - Department of Labor Q&A. The Department of Labor (“DOL”) is presenting its interpretations and guidance for complying with the FFCRA through a Question & Answer format. Those can be found HERE. You should review and consult with the Q&A’s on your common questions.
- NADA Frequently Asked Questions. NADA has been working with the DOL to prepare additional guidance specific to dealers through some Frequently Asked Questions. You can find that FAQ HERE. These were last updated on March 30, 2020.
- Fisher Phillips FFCRA Summary. Fisher Phillips has released a summary that provides assistance in understanding the federal law. You can find that summary HERE.
