Date Stamp Requirement Removed

AAHomecare Article 9/06/2017

Last week, DME MACs revised the Dear Physician letter on “Face-to-Face and Written Order Requirements for Certain Types of DME.” The letter was updated to reflect the requirements specified in the Affordable Care Act, which removed the requirement for a date stamp or similar to prove a supplier has received a WOPD prior to delivery of an item. Now, the date of the physician signature must be on or before the date of delivery as evidence that the supplier received the order prior to delivery. AAHomecare is pleased to see this change but requested the DME MAC POEs to issue an update for the supplier community.
