OIG Investigation into Round 2 License Problems Begins

Article Source: 9-18-13 AAHomecare Wednesday in Washington Report

Yesterday, AAHomecare participated in a meeting with the Department of Health & Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) to discuss Round 2 problems. The meeting was scheduled as a direct result of Reps. Glenn Thompson (R-PA) and Bruce Braley (D-IA) requesting that the OIG investigate licensure abnormalities and whether CMS awarded contracts to unlicensed providers in an attempt to set a predetermined price point for bid products.

The Association provided information related to licensure issues and the awarding of contracts to non-bonafide providers in Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee. AAHomecare is hopeful that the OIG will take our members’ comments and concerns into consideration during the course of the investigation.

Special OAMES Note:  OAMES staff is working directly with AAHomecare representatives and several Ohio legislators given the direct impact of this issue on Ohio providers and consumers.  Members will continue to receive updates on developments.
