Highlights from the Student Survey

 

The Student Survey was shared with all Ohio PA students from September 23-29, 2024. OAPA appreciates all who took the time to complete the survey and share their thoughts. Here is the breakdown of participation:

Survey Highlights

Top 5 Specialties of Interest:

• Emergency Medicine
• Surgery
• Pediatrics
• Family Medicine/ Primary Care
• Dermatology

Anticipated Location of Practice After Graduation:

• 51.9% of students said they will stay in the state of Ohio
• 22.2% of students plan to practice in a different state
• 25.9% are other/undecided

OAPA-Specific Feedback:

Number of Events

• 52.6% of students who participated in the survey do not know enough about OAPA events to comment on the current number of events
• 14.3% want to see more events hosted by and/or open to PA students

Newsletter Spotlights

• 54.9% of the students do not know about the Program Spotlights published in the OAPA monthly newsletter over the past year.

Student Expectations

• 83.6% of PA-S would be interested in a mentorship program with PA-C across the state
• 76.9% would like OAPA to present more student tips
• 62.3% enjoy the competition amongst PA programs like the Challenge Bowl and PA OlymPAcs

Student Suggestions

• Instagram account - with student achievements and initiatives of various PA programs [Editor's Note: We encourage everyone to follow OAPA on Instagram @ohiopas and we would be delighted to include more student-focused content. Please share with us so that we can amplify!]
• Presentation from OAPA to PA programs talking about the organization and benefits for the students
• Short and easy updates
• Hosting free events that don’t require fees
• Study tips, podcast, and lectures
