We are seeking a dedicated and professional Certified Embalmer and Funeral Director to join our staff and uphold our commitment to serving families with the utmost care and attention.
Job summary
The employee will perform typical funeral director/embalmer duties, along with other tasks as assigned. They will primarily work at our Orrville and Rittman branches but may assist at other locations as needed. Regular hours include weekday office shifts and on-call coverage during scheduled evenings and weekends. The on-call rotation includes one night per workweek, as well as one primary weekend, and one secondary weekend each on a 5 five-week rotation. In addition to a regular weekday off, the Monday before and Friday after a primary weekend will also be off, creating two three-day weekends per rotation.
Essential Functions
- Take incoming death calls, make removals, embalm, and arrange for cremation or burial of the deceased.
- Make arrangements with both at-need and pre-need families at the convenience of the client families. Arrangements include, but are not limited to, completion of necessary paperwork, assisting client families with selection of memorial and personalization items, preparation of memorial and personalization items, planning, scheduling, and coordination of the family’s desired services and method of disposition, including coordination of the individuals and businesses used outside of Auble Funeral Home staff.
- Provide and arrange for needed staffing and transportations for all services.
- Attend and direct funerals, memorials, burials, cremations, visitations, and gatherings selected by client families.
- Provide aftercare including, but not limited to, life insurance claims, veteran benefits, follow up letters, surveys, and anniversary cards.
- Maintain logs and regulatory compliance for the branch funeral home.
- Supervise part-time employees designated to work at the branch location in the absence of the branch manager.
- Attend to regular maintenance of the building and grounds of the branch facility.
Requirements and Preferences
- Completion of mortuary school and bachelor’s degree required by law in the state of Ohio.
- Must be a licensed embalmer and funeral director. Ohio licensees preferred, though out of state licenses will be considered.
- Preferred 2 years of experience, educational experience will be considered.
- Familiarity with embalming equipment, funeral service software (SRS is our current system), and standard office software.
