It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Lawrence (Larry) Stuart, Sr., after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Larry was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend and was surrounded by love as he peacefully transitioned to his next eternal adventure where he will undoubtedly be surrounded by new friends and old, telling stories of his life’s adventures, of which there are many.
Born on July 3, 1938, Larry's life was a testament to strength, perseverance, and hard work. If you were to ask him what he did for a living he would reply “I was a welder.” He was that, and so much more. From working the midnight shift at an ironworks company to owning and operating a global cremation equipment manufacturing and service company, Larry’s journey was marked by his boundless dedication to his family and his determination to provide them with the best life possible. During his time as President and Owner at Crematory Manufacturing & Service he forged lasting connections and made significant contributions to the field of cremation. His colleagues remember him for his exceptional work ethic, his kindness, sense of humor, and his ability to inspire those around him.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Larry was a man of many passions. He was a devoted dog lover, avid card player, and a Corvette enthusiast spending hours at a poker table with friends, in front of a cribbage board with his oldest son, or a drag strip with his youngest, often watching him go 9 seconds in a 1/4 mile.
As he faced the challenges of Parkinson's Disease, Larry continued to exhibit remarkable strength and resilience. His unyielding courage in the face of adversity served as an inspiration to all who knew him. Despite the hardships he endured, Larry's spirit remained unbreakable, and his sense of humor and positive outlook on life never wavered, to the joy of everyone around him.
Larry leaves behind a legacy of love, courage, hard work, and a profound impact on those fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by his kindness and wisdom.
Cremation has taken place, and memorial service details will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to your local American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (ASCPA) or animal rescue shelter.
Larry is survived by his sons Larry Stuart Jr, David (Corrina) Stuart, Grandchildren Julia, Jacob, and Jesmond, Great Granddaughter Jennifer Lynn, and longtime companion Janet Lane.
