As you may recall from several previous communications over the past year-and-a-half, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Bureau of Vital Statistics is replacing its separate electronic vital records systems used to record births and deaths in Ohio (IPHIS/EDRS) with a single Ohio Vital Records System (OVRS) scheduled to go live on January 1, 2025. Over the course of this year, ODH conducted user testing of OVRS with volunteer users of the current systems, ranging from funeral homes, coroners/medical examiners, and birth facilities, to physicians and local health departments.
In order to use OVRS after go-live, users will need to enroll in the new system. In the coming weeks, users of the current systems should receive an email with instructions for enrollment.
