Dr. Tyler J. O’Brien, Ed.D., CFSP, CCSP, is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan, and holds an Indiana Courtesy Card. A Certified Funeral Service Practitioner and Certified Cremation Service Provider, he serves on the Ohio Funeral Directors Association’s Young Funeral Directors and Education Committees and was honored with its 2024 Young Funeral Director Distinguished Service Award. A frequent speaker on professional and ethical issues in funeral service, Tyler earned a Bachelor of Mortuary Science from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, a Master of Arts in Theology from Lourdes University, and a Doctor of Education from the University of the Cumberlands. Dr. O'Brien has a passion for research focused on attrition and retention factors and leadership studies in funeral service licensees. He currently serves families at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe in Toledo, Ohio.
