Peggy Lynn Wood, age 64, of Gallipolis, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 23, 2025 at the Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus.
Born February 17, 1961 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Patty Lambert Montgomery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by a sister, Linda Coughenour, 2 brothers Bruce and Johnny Montgomery and by a brother-in-law, Tony Montano.
Peggy was a graduate of Hannan Trace High School. For several years she was employed at Heiner’s Bakery before finding her place alongside her husband Gene at the family funeral home.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and served the church in many roles thru the years. She took an active part on many community boards and committees, always striving to help others, in her own quiet ways.
Peggy was a well-known cook and loved to host dinners at her home. She had a love of travel, and enjoyed traveling to numerous destinations. She also enjoyed spa days with her friends and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Peggy is survived by her husband Gene Wood, whom she married on May 11, 1996 and loved him dearly; siblings, Betty Adams, Patricia Montgomery, Paul Thomas (Sue) Montgomery, Frances Montano, Phyllis Montgomery and Cathy (Dwayne Evans) Montgomery; brother-in-law, Keith Coughenour; and by several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her extended family and many friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM. Tuesday December 30, 2025 at the Waugh-Halley Wood Funeral Home with Father Andy Bird and Bob Hood officiating. Burial will follow in the Mound Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 PM till 7 PM.
Pallbearers will be: Eric Mulford, Jeff Fowler, Randy Johnson, Coby Davis, Bobby Montgomery and Dwayne Evans.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Coughenour and Buck Mulford.
