Urgent Action: Cybersecurity in Hospitality

 enews

Ketan Pema, Chair of OHLA’s Innovation and Technology Committee, highlights the urgency of reasonable data security following the $45M MGM settlement, which sets a new legal standard for cybersecurity in hospitality. Courts are now scrutinizing whether businesses take adequate steps to protect guest data, with infrastructure security being the industry’s biggest risk gap. To mitigate threats, businesses should conduct vulnerability assessments, encrypt data, strengthen access controls, and implement response plans. For 2025, OHLA’s Innovation and Technology Committee aims to enhance security, drive digital transformation, and improve industry resilience. Pema also offers a free 1-hour cyber assessment to help businesses identify and address security vulnerabilities.
