In an effort to build stronger connections to the colleges and universities in Ohio with hospitality programs, OHLA began visits to the programs this Fall, meeting with Baldwin Wallace and Lorain County Community College in November. At the meetings, the schools shared that their priorities are increasing enrollment, developing and strengthening relationships with industry partners, and training career-ready students.
They shared that some ways OHLA can support them are by helping make students more aware of the opportunities in the industry, offering paid internships to their students, connecting their students with the industry’s emerging professionals to ask questions and learn more about their career journeys, and bringing together the hospitality instructors from across the state to share best practices, etc. OHLA will begin taking steps to follow up on these requests. Thank you to the OHLA board members and EDWFD Committee members who joined OHLA staff at the meetings.
