A Columbus Ohio native, Joe Palazzo is a 1967 graduate of Bishop Ready High School where he is in his 24th of his 25 year career in education. He is currently a guidance counselor, head baseball (24th season) and golf coach (21st season) at his alma mater. He began his career as a social studies teacher and freshman baseball coach at Fr. Wehrle Memorial High School. In addition, he was employed as a part-time academic counselor at Franklin University and has served on various counseling advisory boards.
Joe earned his BSEd at Ohio University '71 and his M.A. in Guidance & Counseling at The Ohio State University '77. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor with Counselor & Social Worker Board of the State of Ohio.
In 23 seasons as Bishop Ready's baseball coach, Joe's teams have recorded over 260 victories. They have been champions or runners-up 6 times in the competitive Central Catholic League (CCL.) Only Hall of Famer, the late Jack Ryan, has earned more CCL baseball coaching victories. Joe's teams have made 11 appearances at the District and two at the Regional tournament levels.
In a memorable 1984 season Coach Palazzo's squad finished as Class A Regional Champion and State Semifinalist despite compiling only a 2-13 record outside of the OHSAA tournament!
Joe's involvement at the local and state association levels has been quite extensive. He has served as Central District Vice-president and President. In addition, Joe's OHSBCA involvement includes serving as a member of the Board of Directors, Co-Director of the All-Ohio Series, Clinic Director, President and Past-President. He is currently a coaches' poll member, the OHSBCA's Historian and has been emcee of the Hall of Fame and Awards Luncheon for the past nine years.
Joe, his wife Renate and their on year old daughter Elisabeth, reside in Grove City, Ohio.
