Joe Neff graduated from Muskingum College 1966. He earned a Master's Degree from Ohio University in 1970. Joe began his teaching (mathematics) and coaching career at Newark High School in the fall of 1966. He served five years as an assistant baseball coach and is presently entering his 23rd year as Head Varsity Baseball Coach, with an overall record of 401 wings, 197 losses. During his tenure, Newark's baseball team has been district runner-up six times, district champions three times, regional champs once, and a state semifinalist once.
Joe has also coached football at Newark for 28 years, serving as varsity defensive coordinator for the past 24 years.
He married his high school sweetheart Marilyn and has been happily married for the past 27 years. Joe has tow children: Mike and Cathy. Mike is married and is currently the Head Athletic Trainer at Reynoldsburg High School. Cathy is married and is presently a senior at Ohio State University majoring in elementary education.
