A graduate of Princeton High School and Miami University, Gary Yeatts has been a teacher and a coach at Fairfield High School for 24 years. Yeatts was selected for Who's Who Among American Teachers and was named the Ohio Social Studies Teacher of the Year in 1985. In a distinguished career Yeatts has developed innovative curriculum, presented at national conferences, and currently serves as chairperson of the social studies department. The Fairfield student body has repeatedly voted Yeatts as "favorite teacher."
A head coach for 21 years, Yeatts served ad freshman and junior varsity coach before gaining the varsity position in 1973. Yeatt's teams have won 459 games while losing 169 for a lifetime winning percentage of 73%. Eight players have progressed to professional baseball careers and at least 60 players have played collegiate baseball. Fairfield has made trips to the "final four" on four occasions and captured state championships in 1985 and 1991. The 1991 team was acclaimed national champions by U.S.A. Today , winners of 7 District championships. 1-Greater Miami Conference crowns, and 3 Cincinnati City championships. Fairfield has become one of Ohio's premier baseball programs. Coach Yeatts was named the Cincinnati Coach of the Year 3 times. In 1991 he was selected as the National Coach of the Year by U.S.A. Today.
Coach Yeatts would like to thank his wife and family, coaching assistants, and most importantly his players, for making his induction into the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame possible.
