Dick Hauck - 1975

Dick Hauck, a 1949 graduate of Western Hills H.S. in Cincinnati, Ohio, attended The Ohio State University and performed as an All-Big Ten pitcher. After graduating from OSU, he returned to Cincinnati and began teaching/coaching at Withrow H.S. In 1958, he accepted a teaching position at Western Hills. For the next 10 years, Dick would teach Biology, Physical Education and coach baseball until 1969. He served as an assistant under OHSBCA Hall of Famer, Paul "Pappy" Nohr and would become the head coach in 1963. During his seven years as the head coach at WHHS, the Mustangs won 6 league championships, 2 Regional championships and a state championship in 1967. One of his former players, Ken Selby, also a member of the HOF, would continue the great baseball tradition which was started with Paul Nohr and Dick Hauck. Dick passed away on March 2, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Janet, and his daughter, Deborah; and son, Mark.
