Online Content Editor

Experience Columbus

The online content editor is responsible for proactively developing and posting up-to-date
content on Experience Columbus’ website, mobile website and tactical websites, as well as
providing Columbus destination content on industry-related websites. This position also will
work with the internal web team to move forward website development projects.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Create, manage, post and update website content on experiencecolumbus.com,
makeitcolumbus.com, joinuscolumbus.com and others, as necessary.
ï‚§ Work with Director, Marketing to align content with the strategies of each site.
ï‚§ Identify opportunities for Columbus destination content on other websites and submit
content, as appropriate.
ï‚§ Work with Experience Columbus staff to update content for client landing pages
(meeting planners, tour operators, members and media).
ï‚§ Create and update homepage slideshows and landing page tile photos.
ï‚§ Create and update member and non-member listings in sales database.
ï‚§ Approve photos uploaded by members; find and add photos to website event listings.
ï‚§ Manage promotional space; identify and maximize opportunities for exposure to
specific content.
ï‚§ Develop fresh and timely trip ideas; promote trip ideas throughout the website and to
external channels.
ï‚§ Work with Director, Tourism to keep travel packages current; promote travel packages
on experiencecolumbus.com and on other travel sites, as appropriate, including
discoverohio.com.
ï‚§ Work closely with Interactive Marketing Strategist to align content with social media
outreach.
ï‚§ Integrate blog content throughout the website.
ï‚§ Tag members for exposure on homepage.
ï‚§ Keep staff listings current.
ï‚§ Update content, as needed, on the Member Extranet.
ï‚§ Add new conventions to makeitcolumbus.com.

2. Act as project lead with internal staff and outside vendors on website development.
ï‚§ Work with Director, Marketing to align features with the strategies of each site.
ï‚§ Work with Director, Information Technology on architecture and data structure. ï‚§ Work with Experience Columbus staff to identify areas of new content and/or new
features.
ï‚§ Develop landing pages, as needed.

3. Manage the calendar of events database content and data distribution.
ï‚§ Tag events for homepage exposure
ï‚§ Import events from various databases.
ï‚§ Manage contracted data entry.
ï‚§ Develop and deploy subscription-based emails.
ï‚§ Assist with troubleshooting events entry.
ï‚§ Enter major Columbus events on discoverohio.com, as needed.

Other Responsibilities:
1) Work with Marketing Manager to organize destination content for use by all Experience
Columbus staff.
2) Execute the Columbus Insiders Club by collaborating with the Membership and Tourism
departments.
3) Attend Experience Columbus and member functions, as necessary.

Education and Experience:
ï‚§ A four-year degree from an accredited college or university in marketing,
communications, journalism, library science or related field required.
ï‚§ Three years of demonstrated experience in marketing, communications, information
technology, research or library science required.
ï‚§ The organization requires all employees to obtain and maintain their Certified Tourism
Ambassador™ (CTA) designation.

Competencies and Skills:
ï‚§ Extreme attention to detail.
ï‚§ Proven skills in editing and writing.
ï‚§ Familiarity with databases and their structure.
ï‚§ Basic HTML experience and understanding of CSS required.
ï‚§ Excellent organizational skills.
ï‚§ Possess team orientation and ability to work collaboratively.
ï‚§ A keen eye for design.
ï‚§ Experience in Photoshop recommended.
ï‚§ Experience in Illustrator and/or InDesign desired.
ï‚§ Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and the Internet.
