JOB DESCRIPTION:

Performs customer service functions in person, by telephone, or by email; provides information or assistance regarding employment services, procedures, program requirements, or other issues; receives and responds to routine questions and complaints; researches problems and initiates problem resolution; refers complex complaints/problems to other personnel as appropriate.

Determines eligibility for employment programs and services; receives and screens referrals and applications; conducts interviews and assessments; gathers required documentation; evaluates applicant needs against program requirements; approves/denies applications; reviews on-going eligibility; sends approval/denial letters to applicants; processes related vouchers and other documentation.

Performs job coaching and case management for jobseekers; meets with program participants; determines service and skill development needs; assists in the development of individual employment plans; conducts program orientation; provides information regarding program rules and requirements; coordinates training with outside service providers; makes necessary referrals to help jobseekers obtain additional public assistance services; maintains related documentation and case files.

Conducts training classes regarding job search and job retention to individuals receiving public assistance and others; provides information and answers questions regarding employment trends, hiring procedures and practices, interview skills, resume writing, etc.; reviews assignments and recommends improvements; coordinates guest speakers.

Performs data entry to document services, fiscal commitments, and follow up into case management, fiscal, tracking systems, spreadsheets, etc.; enters, retrieves, reviews, or modifies data; scans documents; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; prepares and submits required reports and documentation.

Provides information and referrals regarding job opportunities; writes and local employer job openings and hiring events; schedules on-site employer job recruitments and assessments; monitors and updates unit social media accounts to answer inquires, post center events and happenings, and job search tips; organizes and participates in job fairs, including preparing information packets, table displays and presentations.

Assists supervisor or higher-level administrator with analysis, development, and monitoring of employment services; creates forms; assists in developing policies; researches labor market information and data; secures instructional resources; updates training material; participates in curriculum development, etc.

Communicates with program participants, unit staff, employers, allied community organizations and others as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

Attends and presents at meetings, training sessions, conferences, workshops, and outreach events; participates in or makes presentations to committees, work groups, and community organizations and boards.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's degree in social services, sociology, business, or related field required; supplemented by two years of experience in public assistance, customer service or related; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio driver's license.
