SUMMARY:
Provides maintenance services for Agency buildings. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings and grounds by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The functions listed below are intended to depict general job assignments, abilities and responsibilities required of this position. Other duties as assigned.
Performs minor repairs of construction, electrical and plumbing.
Acts as a liaison to the County facilities department.
Coordinates and interacts with contractors assigned to complete projects within agency properties.
Directs workers engaged in painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings.
Directs workers engaged in ground maintenance activities, such as mowing lawns, snow removal, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.
Prepares maintenance schedules. Directs workers engaged in the general cleaning and upkeep of buildings, including buffing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and washing windows.
Directs workers assisting other departments as requested, including moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
Requests tools, equipment, and supplies to complete tasks as needed.
Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards. Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
Maintenance and scheduling of repairs on agency vehicles.
Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) – product safety.
Understands agency policies and procedures and communicates these to workers and enforces safety regulations.
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Suggests changes in work crew.
Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Maintains time and production records.
Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
