Social Services Supervisor I – Supportive Services Unit
Position Overview:
Champaign County Department of Job and Family Services is seeking a qualified and compassionate Social Services Supervisor I to lead our Supportive Services Unit. This leadership role is responsible for supervising a range of critical programs including Adult Protective Services (APS), Child Protective Services (CPS) Supportive Services, and related clerical and subsidy functions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong supervisory skills, a deep understanding of protective services, and a commitment to serving vulnerable populations in our community.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Oversight:
•Adult Protective Services (APS)
•CPS Supportive Services
•Kinship Permanency Incentive (KPI)
•PRC-related social services
•Social Services Clerical operations (IV-E eligibility, billing, reimbursements)
•Subsidy eligibility and negotiation processes
Administrative Leadership:
•Supervise four full-time social services workers and one clerical specialist
•Conduct regular supervision and formal evaluations
•Review and approve casework in ODAPS and SACWIS
•Monitor caseloads, compliance with CPOE/PPA, and unit procedures
•Respond to consumer complaints and facilitate grievance processes
•Participate in on-call rotation and agency leadership team
•Coordinate and deliver community-wide trainings (e.g., mandated reporter)
•Lead or support community engagement events (e.g., Child Abuse Prevention Month, Elder Abuse Awareness Month, Foster Care Christmas Party)
•Prepare reports, review RMS hits, and support hiring and leave decisions
Training & Development:
•Provide coaching and training to new and experienced staff.
•Conduct Individualized Training Needs Assessments (ITNA) and monitor training compliance.
•Facilitate monthly unit meetings and support staff development through OCWTP.
Classification:
Pay Range 10 - $58,843.20 to $87,443.20
Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in a human services field is required.
•Master’s degree in a human services field is preferred.
•Additional consideration will be given to candidates who meet one or more of the following:
•Two years of experience as a Social Service Worker 2.
•Completion of undergraduate core coursework or two years of technical training in behavioral science, social science, early childhood development, education, or a related field plus two years of experience in a role similar to Social Service Worker 2.
