Job Description:

Knox County Job & Family Services is seeking a collaborative and experienced leader to serve as Public Assistance Supervisor. This position provides leadership, direction, and support to staff responsible for administering public assistance programs. The successful candidate will promote quality service delivery, ensure compliance with federal and state requirements, and foster a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement while working closely with the Public Assistance Administrator.

 

Essential Functions:

Provide day-to-day supervision and leadership for Public Assistance programs and staff.

Assign work, monitor productivity, review cases, and evaluate employee performance.

Provide guidance and technical assistance on complex eligibility determinations and program requirements.

Conduct regular individual supervision meetings and facilitate unit meetings to ensure communication and knowledge sharing.

Participate in hiring, employee development, performance management, and corrective action processes.

Review staffing needs and recommend operational improvements.

Develop and deliver training to staff on policies, procedures, and program changes.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and agency regulations, including confidentiality requirements and collective bargaining agreements.

Conduct case reviews and quality assurance activities to ensure program accuracy and compliance.

Coordinate and respond to state hearings, overpayment determinations, and fraud-related issues.

Address customer concerns and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Prepare reports, correspondence, and other required documentation in a timely manner.

Serve as a resource and provide operational support across the Public Assistance Division as needed.

Attend meetings, trainings, workshops, and conferences and work outside normal business hours when necessary.

Qualifications:

Associate degree in Human or Social Services, Education or Sociology, or a related field, plus three years of work experience determining eligibility for Public Assistance Programs; or a high school diploma or equivalent and a combination of three years of management, and/or professional development training, and/or secondary coursework, and related work experience determining eligibility for Public Assistance Programs.

Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.

Must be able to pass background check for FTI.
