How to file for unemployment benefits during COVID-19

Due to the large volume of calls being received by ODJFS, it is recommended that those with internet access apply for benefits online at unemployment.ohio.gov which can be accessed 24/7.

For those who do not have internet access to file a claim, a state unemployment hotline is available toll-free at 1-877-644-6562 or TTY 1-614-387-8408. The call center has extended hours from 7:00AM-7:00PM weekdays, 9:00AM-5:00PM Saturdays, and 9:00AM-1:00PM Sundays to assist with PIN resets and take initial applications. For all other calls, regular business hours are observed weekdays from 8:00AM-5:00PM.

While you may not be able to access the website or reach an individual at the call center immediately, all benefits will be retroactive to the date claimants became eligible.
