JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Social Program Coordinator (SPC) will support, mentor, and coach customers to become self-sufficient. By identifying appropriate programs and services available, the SPC will improve the quality of life of both individuals and families. The SPC demonstrates the ability to manage diverse tasks, complex problem solving, and is highly detailed. *This position requires dedication, adaptability, maintaining the highest customer service standards, and a commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace. 

Job duties in order of importance - Provides leadership and is responsible for administrative tasks of specific social service programs, (i.e., domestic violence, childcare, transportation services, etc.) as assigned by the supervisor. Provides intensive counseling and/or teaching to clients and/or families in individual and/or group settings to help clients become self-sufficient and to improve the quality of their lives. Participates in defining, establishing, and implementing individual and/or family service/educational and/or employment goals and plans. Monitors participation and assesses progress of plan and redetermines service needs and goals. Identifies potential resources and services. Establishes and maintains relationships with community agencies to provide continuity of services in client’s plan. Interview applicants both in person and by telephone for all public assistance programs. Explains all available programs, including eligibility factors for each program. Explains hearing rights, agency, and recipient responsibilities. Operates computer data systems processing benefits and inquiries about cases. Maintains case records, data, and supportive materials; prepares and compiles social histories; completes forms, writes program reports, and prepares correspondence. Collects, analyzes, and interprets valid information and data; enters data into computer. Provides supportive services, participates in-service training. Other duties as assigned. May be required to perform duties under supervision of the Athens County Red Cross during an emergency in accordance with the Athens County Department of Job and Family Services Disaster Preparedness Plan and the Athens County Emergency Operations Plan.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Baccalaureate degree in social/behavioral science, health or human sciences, or related field or Baccalaureate degree plus 24-months experience in delivery of social/human services. One course in accounting, finance, or budgeting or one month experience or equivalent. One year experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases (Microsoft Office preferred). Ability to travel independently. Having held this position within the past 3 years meets the minimum qualifications. Previous career coaching, social work, or program coordination experience preferred.
