Foundation
The Ohio News Media Foundation was formed in 1976 by members of The Ohio News Media Association. The Foundation is a non-profit organization operated for charitable, scientific, literary and educational purposes with a view to achieving the highest standards of excellence and professionalism in all phases of journalism and newspaper publishing. These goals are pursued through research and educational programs and activities that include the following:

Donations to the Ohio News Media Foundation go toward a variety of interests, including scholarships for high school and college students, journalism education research, and more.
These projects require continual planning and funding in order to support newspapers and education around Ohio. Your contribution will help strengthen the foundation for newspapers of the future and its readers.

Wouldn't some extra money in your college account come in handy? The Ohio News Media Foundation offers scholarships to high school seniors and college students majoring in newspaper related programs.
Ohio News Media Foundation Scholarships for Academic Year 2026-27
Ohio High School Journalism Scholarship – $1000
This award is for Ohio high school students who are graduating seniors interested in studying journalism, advertising, marketing or communications at an accredited college or university during the academic year 2026-27. The deadline for submissions is Monday, May 25, 2026.
Eligibility:
- Graduating senior at Ohio high school.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 (C+) required
Ohio News Media Foundation University Journalism Scholarship - $1000
This award is for a student currently enrolled and majoring in a field relevant to our industry, particularly journalism, advertising, marketing, or communications degree program at an Ohio college or university. The deadline for submissions is Monday, May 25, 2026.
Eligibility:
- Student currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior at an Ohio college or university for the Academic Year 2026-27.
- Majoring in field relevant to our industry, particularly journalism, marketing, or communications.
- Minimum GPA 2.5 (C+)
