Osteopathic College Applications Increase

The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine reports that more than 13,900 prospective students have applied to the nation's 26 osteopathic colleges, an increase of 7.13 percent over the same time last year.

More than 107,300 applications have been submitted, averaging 20 applications for every available position. All osteopathic medical schools have recorded an increase ranging from under one percent to more than 25 percent.  

Current enrollment in osteopathic schools is 19,426, a number that has nearly doubled since the year 2000.  By 2015, more than 5,300 osteopathic physicians (DOs) will graduate from the nation’s osteopathic medical schools each year.
