Campaign To End Obesity Honors Two Ohio Lawmakers

The Campaign to End Obesity, a coalition that provides information and guidance to policymakers on the obesity epidemic, recognized several Members of Congress, including two from Ohio, with its “Breakfast with Champions 2012” Award in Washington, DC.  

The event was sponsored in part by the American Osteopathic Association.  Ohioans honored included Patrick Tiberi (R-OH), of Westerville, and Marcia Fudge (D--OH), of Cleveland.   Others included Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Representatives Erik Paulsen (R-MN), Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), Ron Kind (D-WI), Joe Baca (D-CA), Tom Petri (R-WI), P, and Dave Reichert (R-WA) .  

The awardees were commended for promoting legislation and policies that increase physical activity in schools, improve the quality of foods offered to students during school hours, and address obesity in low-income and underserved communities.
