Bob Blake receives OPA Life Member Award for outstanding contributions to pharmacy

The Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) announced that C. Robert Blake, R.Ph. of West Union, Ohio is recipient of a Life Member Award for distinguished and long term service to pharmacy and to OPA. This award, which was presented at the OPA 140th Annual Conference April 20-22 in Columbus.

Bob Blake led the Ohio Pharmacists Association as President 1986-1987, and went on to serve as president of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA).

A graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy, Bob purchased Blake Pharmacy in West Union in 1961. His pharmacy is recognized for its excellent care for patients, as well as its historical soda fountain, which is still operational. He has mentored many pharmacists in his years as an independent owner. 

Bob also has been very politically active, both on a local and national scale.  He as attended nearly every NCPA Legislative Conference in Washington, leading pharmacists as they approached Ohio legislators on Capitol Hill.   He is still a recognized pharmacist among political leaders.

His dedication to the profession is evident through his many years of involvement with OPA, NCPA, and the University of Cincinnati, as well as his advocacy for the profession of pharmacy,” said Ernest Boyd, OPA Executive Director.

OPA, established in 1879, represents more than 4,000 pharmacists, pharmacy educators, and pharmacy students throughout the state. It is OPA’s mission to unite the profession of pharmacy and encourage interprofessional relations, while promoting public health through education, discussion, and legislation.
