The Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) announced that Aimee O’Reilly, R.Ph., PharmD of Worthington, Ohio, took office as President at its 144th Annual Conference held April 1-3 in Columbus. In addition, she was honored with a Leadership Award by the National Community Pharmacists Association, and an OPA UNDER 40 Recognition Award for leadership, excellence, and vision in the practice of pharmacy.
O’Reilly’s passion and dedication to the profession of pharmacy has resulted in many accomplishments in her short career thus far. A graduate of Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy, she began practice at Hock’s Tipp City Pharmacy and on staff of the Ohio Pharmacists Association where she was integral in the development of the How to Open a Pharmacy manual. She and her husband opened O’Reilly Family Pharmacy in Worthington, Ohio, where she identifies the solutions that best suits her patients’ needs with prescription medication, over-the-counter medication, durable medical equipment, and/or immunizations. She has established relationships with several assisted living facilities where she seeks to optimize the medication regimens of their residents. O’Reilly has been busy organizing and providing mass COVID-19 vaccination clinics in various communities throughout Central Ohio, authors home-study continuing pharmacy education lessons in the Ohio Pharmacist journal, and presents continuing education sessions for pharmacists at OPA meetings.
“While many young pharmacists have made significant contributions to their communities and to public health as a whole, Aimee O’Reilly’s commitment to the profession goes well beyond her work responsibilities. She is innovative, dedicated, and passionate about the profession of pharmacy, and a caring health professional for her patients,” said Ernest Boyd, OPA Executive Director.
OPA, established in 1879, represents more than 4,000 pharmacists, pharmacy educators, and pharmacy students throughout the state. It is OPA’s mission to unite the profession of pharmacy and encourage interprofessional relations, while promoting public health through education, discussion, and legislation.
