The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) Friday announced the appointment of Ann Morrison, MD, as the chief clinical officer of Twin Valley Behavioral Healthcare (TVBH). Morrison, who will assume her new position on Monday, July 25, will be responsible for leading and recruiting a diverse medical staff and overseeing collaborative efforts between the hospital and community partners.
Morrison joined the TVBH clinical team as a staff psychiatrist in 2013. She was named assistant chief clinical officer in November 2015. Prior to coming to the hospital, she served as an associate professor and director of community psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. While there, she developed a training program in public sector psychiatry and delivered care in a variety of community mental health outpatient and inpatient settings, including the CSN program at TVBH-Dayton, mental health services for Clark County, and supported housing programs in Franklin and Montgomery counties.
During her 21 years with Wright State, Dr. Morrison also developed and provided psychiatric care in specialty programs for individuals living with mental illness and developmental disabilities in Hamilton and Montgomery counties, and served as chief clinical officer of the Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board for more than 15 years.
Morrison is board certified in general and forensic psychiatry and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. She completed her undergraduate work at Macalester College (St. Paul, MN) and continued her education in medicine and psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Morrison has been recognized for her work by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Dayton Police Department and the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association, where she chairs the Public Mental Health Committee.
