Last week, the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy sent its Dec. 2017 E-News Update to all prescribers informing them that several new important rules go into effect on Dec. 29, 2017, including:
Diagnosis Codes on Opioid Prescriptions
This rule requires prescribers to indicate the first four alphanumeric characters of the ICD-10-CM medical diagnosis code on all opioid analgesic prescriptions.
The requirement for all other controlled substances go into effect on June 1, 2018
