HPIO releases newest publication: Access Ohio Basics

The Health Policy Institute of Ohio's newest publication, Access Ohio Basics, provides an overview of issues related to access to health care in Ohio. Among the topics covered in the paper are health insurance, barriers to access, oral health access, mental health access, health disparities and a description of the health care safety net in Ohio.

The paper was first released last week at the HPIO forum "Coverage and Beyond: Understanding how coverage and access to care impact Ohioans." HPIO has posted all of the presentations from the forum at www.hpio.net/events (scroll down to "recent events").

OPPA Executive Director, Janet Shaw, attended the event, which included the following speakers: Alan Weil, Executive Director, National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP); John McCarthy, Ohio Medicaid Director; Dr. Sharon Hull, Professor, Family and Community Medicine at NEOMED and Medical Director of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) Collaborative; and Angela Cornelius Dawson, Executive Director, Ohio Commission on Minority Health.
