The Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) has launched a study on patient satisfaction surveys to help determine whether these tools are good or bad for our health care delivery system.
With the increasing focus on transparency in our health care delivery system, physicians are subject to a multitude of quality reporting and patient satisfaction measures.
On the positive side, the collection and publication of data from these reports has led to improvements in patient experience, quality and safety. On the negative side, some physicians admit to ordering more tests and prescribing more medications to appease their patients to draw higher patient satisfaction scores.
