The OPPA commends the Kasich Administration and legislators on the Controlling Board for doing the right thing and voting to expand Medicaid. More than 275,000 Ohioans will get access to healthcare coverage on Jan. 1, including more than 26,000 veterans and more than 50,000 Ohioans with unmet mental health and addiction disorder needs.
In front of a standing room only crowd, the 7-member Controlling Board voted to expand Medicaid in a 5-2 vote. Governor Kasich stated, “Together with the General Assembly we’ve improved both the quality of care from Medicaid and its value for taxpayers. Today’s action takes another positive step in this mutual effort. ”
