Ted Wymyslo, MD stepping down as state health director

In a statement issued earlier this week, Ohio Governor John Kasich said that state health director Theodore Wymyslo, MD will be stepping down from his position later this month to return to private medical practice.

Dr. Wymyslo has headed up the Ohio Department of Heath since 2011. During his tenure at ODH, Wymyslow has been a strong advocate for patient-centered medical homes, a model of primary care that focuses on keeping patients healthy.

Kasich said that he respects Dr. Wymyslo's desire to return to practicing medicine and working with patients and that he hopes to appoint his replacement before the end of the month.

The OPPA has appreciated working with Dr. Wymyslo and wishes him all the very best as he returns to private practice.
