Sign-up for Ohio National Guard orientation flight on 9/11

On behalf of Major General Deborah A. Ashenhurst, Ohio's Adjutant General, the Ohio National Guard invites physicians to be considered for participation in their 2014 Provider Orientation Flight at Rickenbacker Air National Guard base in Columbus on Sept. 11, 2014.

The purpose of this flight is to familiarize physicians with the role and mission of the Ohio National Guard. Specifically, the goal is to build awareness that more Ohio healthcare providers are needed and appreciated in caring for more TRICARE beneficiaries.

On the day of the flight, physicians will actually observe an in-air refueling of a military aircraft and meet Soldiers explaining the purpose and use of Army military equipment. Highlights of this experience include Special Forces Weapons and a Black Hawk helicopter on static display.

Anyone interested in learning more can view the short YouTube video to more fully appreciate the experience.

This experience could start as early as 7 a.m. with briefings, after which take off will occur between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., with return to Rickenbacker between 3 and 4 p.m. Specific timelines for individual flights will be made available to anyone signing up closer to the event.

Unfortunately, the Ohio National Guard is not able to accommodate persons with physical limitations that might interfere with an individual's ability to make an unlikely emergency exit from the aircraft.

Also, please be understanding that being nominated does not necessarily guarantee selection and that this experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity. If you have participated in the past, please consider forwarding the invitation to colleagues.

If you are interested in participating, please complete the RSVP Form and return it to the community outreach office as soon as possible.

Questions may be directed to the Ohio National Guard Community Outreach office at  Kathryn.l.lowrey.mil@mail.mil or (614)336-7002.
