The Perry County Board of Developmental Disabilities (PCBDD) is accepting applications for the position of Transitional Assistant Superintendent (TAS). Serving over 475 people, PCBDD is located in the county seat of New Lexington and is positioned in the heart of Southeast Ohio. The person selected for this position is expected to work with current Superintendent David Couch until December 2025. Based upon success in this role and with Board approval, the incumbent may then transition to the role of Superintendent. PCBDD is driven by its mission, vision, and values to support people with developmental disabilities in Perry County. PCBDD is innovative in its approach of promoting a positive culture of accountability through leadership and continuous improvement and is proud to have received the 2024 Silver Award from The Partnership for Excellence. The PCBDD Strategic Plan reflects its commitment to creating a meaningful life for people with developmental disabilities living in Perry County. PCBDD prides itself on continuity and sustainability in the Superintendent role, having only two superintendents over the past 30 years. PCBDD seeks a Transitional Assistant Superintendent who is committed to serving as a leader of leaders while being dedicated to financial sustainability, strengthening the workforce, and improving customer experience, organizational performance, and operational efficiencies of the PCBDD.

Under the direction of the Superintendent, the TAS oversees activities, functions, and daily operations of the agency to ensure alignment with the PCBDD mission, vision, values and strategic plan. Alongside the Superintendent, the TAS participates in activities and is involved in providing leadership and supervision to department directors. The TAS advises the Superintendent and the Board on matters and issues related to PCBDD and may serve as the Superintendent’s designee. The TAS assists the Superintendent with administration, program planning, and development of the Board. This position is a transition position for development of a potential new Superintendent as considered and approved by the Board upon resignation of the current Superintendent.
