Ohio GOP Representative Proposes 'Baby Olivia Act' for School Curriculum

Planned Parenthood opposes the proposed bill

A newly proposed bill, called the "Baby Olivia Act," aims to require public schools to teach conservative-endorsed human growth and development in its curriculum. Rep. Melanie Miller, of Ashland, introduced House Bill 485 at the Ohio Statehouse on Tuesday.

"This legislation centers around the importance of making sure that Ohio’s public school students have more complete, science-based understanding of human development in the early stages," Miller said in a press conference.

In addition to teaching students about human growth and development, the schools would be required to do check-ins showing that they’ve showed at minimum at least three minutes of high-definition ultrasound video, showing the brain, heart and sex organs.
