As German cockroaches become increasingly resistant to commonly used insecticides, pest management professionals face growing challenges in achieving consistent, long-term control. Jun-Yin Lum is working to identify treatment strategies that can help slow the development of resistance and improve future control efforts.

As a doctoral student at the University of California, Riverside, Jun-Yin is studying how German cockroach populations respond to different insecticide management approaches. His research compares treatment rotations and combinations while also examining how resistance develops in cockroach populations over time.

By evaluating cockroach populations collected from across the United States, Jun-Yin's work is helping identify which products remain effective and which strategies offer the greatest potential for delaying resistance. His research is designed to provide science-based recommendations that will help pest management professionals make informed treatment decisions and preserve the effectiveness of available control products for years to come.
