Ronald W. Fish, 71, of Wooddale, died Thursday morning, November 20th at St. Luke’s Hospital - Monroe with his family by his side after a long hard fought battle with cancer.
Born on June 12, 1954 in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Reed P. Fish and Audrey (Halterman) Lapping; and was a life long resident of Wooddale.
Known as "Ronnie" to many, he was always willing to help his friends and family when something needed to be fixed. He was a jack of all trades, master of none, having his own handyman business. In addition to working with his brother, Melvin they spent many years together building and excavating until he was no longer able to do so.
He enjoyed tinkering out in his garage, hunting, taking care of his pigs and chickens, and gardening. Despite his illness he would continue to have his friend Steve wheel him out to his garden, so he could direct Steve on how to tend and water his crops.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Joy with whom he would have shared 50 years of marriage this coming July 17th; their three beloved children, Heather Cramer and husband Chad of Stroudsburg, David Fish and husband Jason Day of Rockville, MD, Kimberly Peters and husband Jacob of Conshohocken; two cherished grandchildren, Reed and Louisa Peters of Conshohocken; three siblings, Judy Bush of Stroudsburg, Melvin Fish and wife Elinor of Analomink, and Rita VanWhy of Saylorsburg; a step-brother, Bill Lapping of North Carolina; an aunt, Beverly Batchler of Analomink; his faithful fur babies, Nosy and Bella; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and loyal life long friends who spent many days visiting with him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepmother, June Fish; step-brother, Thomas Lapping; and mother-in-law, Joan Ruger.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 26th, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00AM followed by the funeral service at noon with his friend, Pastor Lynn Lesoine officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be made to the American Cancer Society or Wooddale United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of his daughter, Heather, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home in Stroudsburg.
