Workshop Proposal Deadline Extended to 10 January 2007

RSA Summer Institute Workshops

22-24 June 2007

Workshops may take many forms, from mini-seminars to the introduction of methods in research or analysis to activist projects to on-going scholarly collaborations to curriculum development. They may be proposed by a single person or a collaborative group.

We see the workshop setting as very open. a place to continue conversations or projects begun in 2005 or elsewhere, to begin new lines of research, to work on writing projects (individually or collaborative), to develop pedagogical strategies or materials, or to generate exciting new approaches to rhetorical studies. Topics of workshops proposed in 2005 included the following:

RPI offers comfortable small group meeting rooms with excellent audiovisual support. Workshop presenters and participants will be included in the plenary events scheduled for Friday afternoon and evening: visits to local historical sites related to the plenary lecture by S. Michael Halloran, along with a free dinner and awards ceremony. Saturday evening features a free buffet dinner aboard a cruise ship on the Hudson River. Please see the institute announcement for details about registration fees, lodging, and other meals.

The deadline for workshop proposals has been extended to 10 January 2007. Please send a 1-page description of the topic and brief cv's for all proposers to David Kaufer (kaufer@andrew.cmu.edu) and Sara Newman (snewman@kent.edu). Accepted presenters will be notified on 15 January 2007, and a list of workshop topics and presenters will be posted on the RSA website. Potential participants will then apply directly for admission to the workshop.
