RSQ Associate Editor for Special Issues 

RSA seeks applicants for the RSQ Associate Editor for Special Issues. The RSQ Associate Editor for Special Issues (AESI) will oversee the selection of a special issues theme and guest editor for the annual Special Issue of the Rhetoric Society Quarterly. The annual special issue appears as number three of each volume. The holder of this position is expected to have a strong record of academic publication in the discipline of rhetoric, widely construed. Editing experience is desired but not required. 

The special issue series is designed to offer RSA and RSQ a means of influencing the intellectual agenda in rhetorical studies, to encourage focused statements on timely topics, to attract participation by top scholars, and to increase the visibility of rhetorical studies and the Society by stimulating scholarly activity related to RSQ special issues, such as pre-conference colloquia, conference sessions, and RSA workshops.

The Associate Editor for Special Issues is responsible for:

The AESI coordinates the editorial functions of publishing the Special Issue with the Editor of RSQ. The AESI may call upon the Executive Director and/or the RSA staff administrator for member services, as needed, for support in conducting the editorial needs of this position. Appointment is made by the RSA Board of Directors, upon recommendation of the RSA Publications Committee, for a four-year term. 

The AESI should have a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline, hold an academic position, and be a member of RSA. Candidates must have a well-established record of scholarly publication. The appointment to a four-year term may begin December 1, 2017. 

Nominations/applications for the position should include: a statement of self-nomination (or a statement accepting nomination) and a current curriculum vita. 

Nominations (for self or another) and supporting materials should be sent to Jenny Rice at jenny.rice@uky.edu by October 1, 2017. The RSA Publications Committee (Jenny Rice, chair; Jenell Johnson, Jeff Bennett, Blake Scott, Edward Schiappa, and Susan Jarratt) will begin consideration of completed applications on a rolling basis beginning September 5th.
