In 2012 RSA will select winners of four awards: the RSA Book Award, the RSA Dissertation Award, the Yoos Award, and the RSA Fellows. Please consider nominating a student, colleague, or yourself for one of these awards.
Nominations are reviewed by the Awards Committee of the RSA Board, which recommends winners to the Board.
2012 Book Award:

The 2012 Book Award honors books published by RSA members between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011. Generally, edited collections and second editions are not eligible for this award; translations are eligible. Book Award nominees must supply evidence that the book was published in 2011 (such as an indication on the copyright page or a letter from the publisher stating the month and year of publication). Letters of nomination are welcome but not required. Authors may nominate their own work.
2012 Dissertation Award:
Submit nominations to the Awards Committee Chair: Cara A. Finnegan, Department of Communication, Universityof Illinoisat Urbana-Champaign, 103 Communication Building, MC-456, 1207 W. Oregon St., Urbana, IL61801. A complete nomination package should include 3 copies of the following: dissertation abstract; letter of recommendation from the supervising professor certifying that the dissertation was defended within the eligibility period; a thirty-five page extract from the dissertation. Deadline for nominations: Jan. 31, 2012.
Dissertations are eligible if they were defended between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011. To be considered for the Dissertation Award, the scholar must be a member of RSA.
2012 Yoos Award and RSA Fellows:
Fellows of the Rhetoric Society of America have produced scholarship in rhetorical studies that is remarkable for its quality and quantity, have participated in the work of the RSA, whether on the Board, on its committees, or in other capacities, and have worked to increase the visibility and influence of rhetorical studies through public lectures, teaching, advocacy, or other activities. Winners of the George E. Yoos Award, which automatically confers the status of Fellow, meet the criteria for Rhetoric Society Fellows and have made sustained contributions to the RSA which have improved the organization.
Deadline for nominations: Jan. 31, 2012.
Nominations should include (1) a letter describing the specific contributions of a nominee that explains why this person merits the award, and (2) a copy of the nominee's CV.
