RSA Announces New Editor and Executive Director

RSA is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Editor for the Rhetoric Society Quarterly and a new Executive Director for the Association.

Susan C. Jarratt of the University of California at Irvine will become the next Editor of RSQ. Professor Jarratt is a renowned scholar whose work has had enormous impact on the field. The selection committee applauded Professor Jarratt ‘s long-standing leadership in the field and noted, “her reputation, seniority, administrative experience, professionalism, scholarly presence in both English and Communication, and record of successful mentorship of junior scholars all demonstrate qualities important for the editor of RSQ.” Professor Jarratt’s term will run from 2016 until 2019.
 
The Association also wishes to acknowledge the outstanding work of our current editor, James Jasinski of the University of Puget Sound, whose tenure as editor runs through until 2015.
 
Gerard A. Hauser of the University of Colorado will become the next Executive Director for RSA. Professor Hauser is a renowned scholar and former President of RSA. His work on rhetorical theory and notions of the public have had wide influence and his book, Prisoners of Conscience: Moral Vernaculars of Political Agency, won the 2013 RSA Book Award. The selection committee noted that not only has Professor Hauser been an exemplary scholar but he has also demonstrated his leadership serving both as president of RSA and as chair of his department in Colorado. Professor Hauser’s term will run from 2014 until 2017.

The Association also wishes to acknowledge the outstanding work of our current executive director, Fred Antczak of Grand Valley State University, whose tenure as executive director ends this year.

We anticipate celebrating our incoming editor and executive director and thanking our outgoing leaders at the RSA Luncheon on Sunday (May 25th).
