The Rhetoric Society of America is pleased to announce that the keynote lecture at the 2014 RSA conference will be delivered by Dr. Linda Martín Alcoff.  Professor Alcoff is an internationally renowned philosopher whose work engages the intersections of social identity, race, epistemology and politics.  She has published numerous edited volumes including Feminist Epistemologies (with Elizabeth Potter) and Constructing the Nation: A Race and Nationalism Reader (with Mariana Ortega) and two books including Visible Identities: Race, Gender and the Self (Oxford UP), which was awarded the 2009 Frantz Fanon Award.
 
Originally from Panama, Professor Alcoff holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from Brown University and currently serves as Professor of Philosophy at Hunter College. She has been named a Distinguished Woman in Philosophy by the Society for Women in Philosophy (2005) and one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics by the Hispanic Business Magazine (2006).  In 2011 she was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Oslo.
 
RSA14 will be held May 22-26, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas.  The theme for RSA14 is “Border Rhetorics” and the deadline for submissions of papers, panels or special format sessions is July 1, 2013.
