Serving with Hospitality, Honor, and Heritage

Every time I have the opportunity to represent the SCCFA—whether in Florida, at Tri-State, or with colleagues in Kentucky and West Virginia—I return with the same conviction: ours is not simply a profession. It is a calling.

That is the enduring strength of the SCCFA. We are bound not only by shared work, but by a shared belief that service matters. The details of our work may evolve, yet the essential promise remains unchanged: to meet families with compassion, guide them with dignity, and preserve the stories that connect generations.

We also pause with gratitude for Cindy Foree as she concludes her service as Executive Director. Cindy’s steadfast support, thoughtful leadership, and commitment to both the Board and our members have helped sustain this Association through important seasons. On behalf of the SCCFA, thank you, Cindy. We wish you every happiness in the next chapter and warmly welcome Laurie as she takes the reins. We are confident she will build upon this strong foundation with care and distinction.

Meanwhile, our Board and committees are preparing for a full year ahead and for what we expect will be an exceptional convention, June 13–15, 2027, in Franklin, Tennessee. Please watch our website and newsletter for early registration information for attendees and exhibitors.

Our vision says it simply: “Life’s Short, Be Southern.” Let that be more than a tagline. Let it remind us to lead with hospitality, act with honor, cherish our heritage, and leave every family better served because we were there. That is how we strengthen our profession—and our communities—for generations to come.
