About Us

Our Mission

A not-for-profit regional trade association whose mission is to meet the needs of its members through service and education focused on industry issues and legislation in the region, to promote ethical practices, and to provide leadership in the memorialization industry.

Our territory of membership includes the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

Our Code of Ethics

The fundamental purpose for which the Southern Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association exists is to inspire continued effort toward the improvement of the Death Care Profession in the Southern region.

We foster and encourage the highest ethical standards in the operation, maintenance and management within the profession. To this end, we subscribe and pledge our support to these ethics and principles:

• We believe this association should be thoroughly representative of the entire Death Care Profession including cemeteries, funeral homes, cremation businesses and supplier members.
• We encourage the application of the highest ethical standards in the profession.
  
• We believe that the purpose for which this Association exists cannot be passive in nature, but that we are charged further with the responsibility of educating others to the high standard of conduct herein defined.
  
• We strive to unite members in the closest bonds of good fellowship.
  
• We encourage and promote active participation in all legislation concerning the death care profession that will strengthen and improve the protection of all the people in the Southern Region.
  
• We believe in the fundamental precepts of fair competition.
  
• We discourage the use of methods or practices that lend to discrimination of the sale of lots, markers, monuments or all other commodities pertinent to the profession.
  
• We believe in fair dealings with the general public.
  
• We will solicit and encourage others whose methods of operation subscribe to the above declaration of this code of ethics, to affiliate with the Southern Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association.
