Phase 4: Advanced Pelvis: Structure as Process -- Experiencing Your Vibrant Pelvis
Liz Beeson and Jessica Mark
Panama City, FL
We invite you to explore a deeper understanding of the pelvis, beyond the classic Phase 4 release techniques.
Orienting from our clear container of structure, we will study the pelvic bowl as a whole, experience its spaces and connections, and consider its many relationships.
Some of those relationships include the structure of the living pelvis and its connection to the pelvic diaphragm, pubic symphysis, gemelli, obturators, and more.
Through self-exploration exercises we will bring awareness to the relationship between the thoracic and pelvic diaphragms. We will also learn about specific joints such as the lumbosacral, sacroiliac, sacrococcygeal, and acetabulum/femoral head and their influence on alignment and skeletal integrity.
We will incorporate lots of tools in our learning together such as exploration of movement, self care attention, movement and breath exercises, and other sensory motor relationships.

Phase 4: Head, Neck and Pelvis
Barry Krost
Indianapolis, IN
Many of our clients come to us with pain in the head, neck and pelvis that can be difficult to resolve without superior skills. The head, neck and pelvis are made up of joints that have small ranges of motion that can be very challenging. In this Phase 4 workshop we learn to make our techniques more subtle and precise. We will explore how to fine-tune our experience of these joints and improve our skills to meet the needs of these structures and give relief to our clients through spontaneous self-corrections.
The workshop will include an overview of the anatomy and physiology of the joints in the head, neck and pelvis that we work with, a manual with the techniques and an opportunity to practice our Phase 4 skills together. We will also consider the effects of Phase 4 positioning on the ligaments and fascia of the head, neck and pelvis as we investigate dysfunction and reestablish healthy balance.

Jim Berns
ONLINE via Zoom
16 hours- four days, 4 hours each, on March 11, 12, 18, 19, 2024 (M, T, M, T)
Connection and healing can happen when we are near someone and also when we are far away.
What does it take to create that connection and healing from a distance? In this experiential 16 hour class we will explore:
• What do we feel in our body when we “tune in” to someone from far away?
• How can we soften and quiet ourselves to feel a shift or a response with someone from a distance?
• Specific techniques to sensitize our body to feel more subtle energy.
For some, this class is the next step in their understanding of Ortho-Bionomy. For others, it brings all that they have studied into a more concrete and clearer perspective.
This class is an elective for the Society of Ortho-Bionomy International® Associate and Practitioner training programs and a requirement for the Advanced Practitioner training program.

This 3 hour study group explores the hyoid and its attachments. The hyoid bone is an essential element to swallowing, anchors multiple muscles in the region of the mouth and throat, and is the only bone in the human body not to have an articulation with any other bone in the body. Making sounds, coughing, breathing, moving the tongue, avoiding choking, and anything to do with the larynx are all tied in with the function of the hyoid bone.
This class fulfills one of the study group requirements for the Society of Ortho-Bionomy International’s Practitioner and Advanced Practitioner Training Programs. Please review the SOBI online policy before registering.

Resolving Trauma and Impact Injuries
Sara Sunstein
Berkeley, CA
Our bodies know how to heal from trauma and impacts–we developed biologically to do such. But sometimes we don’t bounce back and part of us remains in the time and place of the trauma.
Sometimes the force of the impact stays in our body like a huge splinter, awaiting release.
Through lecture, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, students will learn to recognize and work with:
–Impact injuries’ unique healing technique
–Physiology and signs of trauma response
–Client’s internal and external resources that facilitate resolution of trauma
–Components of healing trauma
–Relevant structural, visceral, and neural systems.

Pelvic Stabilization
Luann Overmyer and Frank Heslin
East Maitland, NSW, Australia
The pelvis is the foundation of postural alignment. The pelvis carries, balances and translates the weight of the spine when standing, sitting and walking, and modulates the gait patterns coming from the feet and legs. This balance is achieved through the flexibility of the lumbar spine, the stability of the 5th lumbar and sacrum connection, and a dynamic movement balance at the illio-sacral joint.
This class presents the Ortho-Bionomy approach to evaluating and stabilizing the pelvis.
Protocols for assessment and positional release techniques for re-establishing balance in the pelvis will be presented and practiced.

Cranial- Skin, Muscle, Bone and Beyond
Jim Berns
Davis, CA
In this class we will be working with the structure and skin-muscle-bone (Phase 4), unwinding(Phase 5), and the energetics of the cranium (Phase 6).
We will explore how the dynamic of relaxing the practitioner can deeply release the client.
With the influence of the different nerves, blood, meridians, and brain stimulations going through the neck, head, and face, the effects of this work can be quite powerful. It can give the saying “get your head together” a whole other meaning.
This may be different from any other cranial class you have taken. The skills and sensitivity gained from this class can be used with any modality throughout the whole body.

Visceral (2)
November 3 (9:00AM) - 5 (6:00PM), 2023

Deerfield Beach, FL
Ortho-Bionomy® - Above the Dome- Thoracic visceral In this class we will explore the bony structures, organs, and the soft tissue; that help hold the structure together or pull on each other causing misalignments and dysfunctions.
We will be using an Ortho-Bionomy® approach to help bring balance to the Thoracic cavity and throat (Ribs, Intercostal muscles, Diaphragm, Trachea and Bronchi) organs (Lungs, Pleura, Heart, Thyroid) and bring them into relationship with their surroundings.
Ortho-Bionomy® - Below the Dome- Abdominal Visceral This class presents an Ortho-Bionomy® approach to restoring the functional movements of the abdomen and the organs of digestion.
We will look at the viscera as a community within itself and explore how its movements extend out into the surrounding areas. In this class, we will explore the sphincters, liver, gallbladder, stomach, intestines and more. We will learn to palpate and sense the organ themselves and how they relate to each other. We will also work with the bony structures and soft tissues that support them.
When I first took this visceral class in 2007. I remember my instructor Darlene Smith saying, “If the body is not changing, we need to look at the viscera.” I spent six years assisting her as we discovered the potential of the body to heal and how the viscera played an important role. Did you know the liver can cause right shoulder, neck and breathing issues? Did you know the mesentery root can cause issues with the right sacroiliac joint and prolapse of the uterus and bladder? Did you know the large intestine can cause hip & low back pain, and sciatica? These are just a few examples of how the viscera can affect the structure of the body. The viscera can also affect each other causing poor digestion, nutrient absorption and removal of toxic substances and wastes.
Come join us and learn how the viscera play a vital role in our health and well being. Ortho-Bionomy® - Pelvic Visceral In this class we will use Ortho-Bionomy® to explore the urinary tract and the reproductive system.
We will work with the individual organs and look at their relationship to each other. We will also look at the surrounding soft tissues and the supporting structures.
We will work with the kidneys, ureters, bladder, uterus, prostate, ovaries, spine, pelvis, and the pelvic floor. “When we work with the pelvis. We are addressing the very core of our stability. Pelvic stability has a major impact on how we meet the earth and walk in the world on a daily basis as well as enhancing total body health”. Darlene Smith

Jim Berns
ONLINE via Zoom
16 hours- four days, 4 hours each, on March 11, 12, 18, 19, 2024 (M, T, M, T)"
