RSVP today for the Nelson W. Trout Lectures at TLS--April 25-26

The 2019 Trout lecturer is the Rev. Dr. Yvette Flunder, founding pastor of City of Refuge UCC in Oakland, California. Bishop Flunder is a renowned preacher, educator and Gospel music artist. She is a third-generation preacher with roots in the Church of God in Christ. Bishop Flunder is an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ and holds both master’s and doctorate degrees in Ministry from the Pacific School of Religion and the San Francisco Theological Seminary, respectively. In 2003, she was appointed Presiding Bishop of The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries, a multi-denominational coalition of over 56 churches and faith-based organizations from all over the world. 

The Trout Lectures honor the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Nelson W. Trout (1920-1996). He was a Trinity Lutheran Seminary alumnus, a member of the Trinity faculty, and the first African American elected to serve as a Lutheran bishop. His vibrant preaching and commitment to social ministry inspired hundreds of seminary students and touched thousands of lives.
